Application programming in Smalltalk benefits from the comforts of auto-persistence, dynamic code updating, uniformity, and GUI openness. Application programming in Unix stings from the lack of these comforts. Solution: use Unix as if it were Smalltalk! Applications are made of many tiny methods (executable files) and objects (directories). Performance optimisation is left as a trivial exercise ;)
